When Short Action Customs set out to develop the Nexus Press, they aimed to create a press that eliminates any issues associated with the die and shell holder relationship. They also sought to develop a more consistent and powerful cam over action with every single cycle of the press, along with a work envelope that allows you to efficiently process your brass without any obstructions.
Innovative Features
One of the highly innovative features of the Nexus Press is the dual floating shell holder system, which is quick change and tool-less. This system is similar to a custom rifle action’s floating bolt head feature, ensuring that the shell holder centers on your die each time due to its "floating" ability. Additionally, the shell holder system allows for .010″ more sizing than all other shell holders on the market, eliminating the need for modifications to your dies.
Groundbreaking Cam Over Design
The Nexus Press also features dual cam over pucks that precisely stop the movement of your floating die block with every cycle, enhancing sizing and consistency. Traditional reloading presses often cause stress on your press and dies due to shell holder contact at the bottom of your die. The Nexus Press cam over operates independently of the shell holder, ensuring consistent cam over action every cycle.
Unique Die Retention System
The die retention system is entirely unique, utilizing two detents to hold the die securely in place. You can use any standard lock ring available on the market today. The system has radial floating capabilities, allowing for perfect centering of your die each time it is used. Furthermore, the Nexus Press includes storage areas for all your shell holders, dies, and cam over pucks, along with two 8×32 threaded holes for small brushes to assist with brass prep.
Compatibility and Durability
The Nexus Press accommodates seven-eighths diameter and one-inch diameter dies. To run one-inch diameter dies, simply replace the die retention top plate, with 1-inch plates available in early summer 2024. Constructed with pre-hardened steels that are salt bath nitrided, the Nexus Press offers increased strength, lubricity, and corrosion resistance. It also features high-strength aluminum that is Type III hard coat anodized, ensuring longevity and reliability.
