VOLQUARTSEN BLUE 10/22® BOLT RELEASE

What can I say, it didn't work. I have a brand new Tacsol X-Ring Takedown receiver, BX trigger and Ruger extended magazine release. This thing simply will not engage and hold the bolt open. I tried the original factory bolt lock and it engages. I then try the Volquartzen again and nothing, it won't catch. I've tried switching out the extended mag release thinking that might be the problem and that didn't make any difference. I've since ordered the KIDD brand hoping for better results

This makes life easy. No more wasted time. Installed one in my Ruger Charger.

Very easy to install, just refer to video's online about disassembly of the trigger group. Once the rifle is field stripped with the trigger group removed, there are only two pins to push to remove the old part and drop the new part in. Works great, just as advertised. I have two 10/22's and got this part for both. To lock the bolt open,hold the bolt open and push the release up the same as the stock piece, but to release, just pull the charging handle back . No fumbling to push up on the release to let the bolt go forward. I agree with other comments that this should be how the rifle operates from the factory,but I guess some people like an extra step to release the bolt on the factory set up. I was surprised how easy this was to install. I followed some instructions I found on YouTube and had no difficulty installing it. It made my 10/22 a lot more fun to shoot. No more pains in the wrists from fumbling with the mechanisms to release the bolt. Now my 10/22 is a real pleasure to shoot. I also put on a Force charging handle and an Volquartsen extended magazine release—all of which made the rifle more comfortable to shoot.

This piece works exactly as designed, a huge step up from fiddling with the factory lock to release the bolt.



Only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is it came with NO instructions. Happily there is information on the net to cover it, including videos, but there really should be an instruction sheet included by Volquartsen with these.

Received this VOLQUARTSEN bolt release today. Took less than 5 minutes to install from start to finish! One of the best things for the 10/22 since its invention 50 years ago!

Follow up review. After using it for a year and a half, the bolt first started getting hard to release, then it locked into place while firing on several ocassions. Luckilly it was during a practice session and not during competition. My feeling was that this release prematurely wore out. Swapped with a different manufacturer's product.

A similar release was put in a custom 10/22 and when I decided to build my own custom 10/22 I had everything but that easy working release.
I found the directions lacking but a quick search
of the internet gave me a ten minute video and
after watching about three times my 10/22 was done.
I shoot on a range where they want bolts open on any gun not shooting, so this will get used a lot.

This Bolt Release is great!! Was very easy to install. Job completed in 15-20 minutes! You would think gun would come from factory with bolt release installed, would be so much nicer!!!

Got a new Take Down model the factory part is horrible this part is a must have. Great quality.

Very easy install and works exactly as advertised. As far as I'm concerned, this should come from the factory as a matter of SAFETY!

Easy upgrade allowing for automatic bolt release. If you want it, this is want you need. Easy to install and does exactly what it's suppose to.

This is a must for anyone with a 10/22. I got tired of trying to find that little bolt hold open/release lever and trying to manipulate it just right to make it work... frustrating. This makes things so much easier when trying to close the bolt and get back into battery. Simply pull back on the bolt ever so slightly and let go. Easy to do one-handed with either hand for improved speed.

The only thing that's different than stock is there is some material missing. If you knew enough about the operation of a 10/22 you could probably dremel out the material that's not needed and make it work. However, it's worth my time and saves me from fumbling around by buying this.

My only complaint is I wish it was slightly longer on the end that sticks out of the receiver to make it a little easier to use... that seems to be the biggest problem for me and my sausage fingers with this or the stock release.

Installation is easy if you're somewhat familiar with the 10/22 trigger housing. remove the upper pin that has a spring touching it and the pin at the bottom near the safety and the magazine release is.

This is a great product to buy if you're looking for faster reloading or a simpler way to release the bolt.

Every 10-22 should have one of these. Manual of arms with this installed is much more like other common semi-auto rifles; no longer requires fine motor skills to release the bolt.

Installations instructions are text only (no diagram). I recommend searching YouTube for installation videos - much more helpful.

Part drops in quick & easy for a no fumble bolt hold so you can just pull back on the charging handle to chamber a round. All in all it is a quick way to upgrade the rifle & enjoy more time shooting.

For the price, you can't beat it. I installed this in a 10/22 I am customizing. Took it to the range over the weekend and it was great. Installed easily and functions as promised. No more messing with the bolt release button. I will be adding this to my other 10/22 and any others I acquire from here on out.

The bolt release works exactly as stated after installing this bolt release and it is a pleasure not to have having to depress the bolt release a second time using both hands which means you can get your rifle back in action much faster.

**A word of caution to those that install this advanced bolt release.***

Make sure you put the guns safety on if you plan on leaving the charging handle back and a loaded magazine in the well after you have installed this part. If you hit the butt of the stock with your hand or against the ground the bolt can ride forward accidentally and chamber a round.

This part worked exactly as advertised and was reasonably priced. Word of caution to those not mechanically inclined - it can be a bit tricky breaking down your rifle to get this part replaced. For those with the "knack" it's no problem.
